Burnside Telecom is a designer and manufacturer of innovative fixed cellular terminals and desktop mobile phones for voice, SMS text, internet/e-mail access, cellular/landline routing and remote telemetry sensing and control.
Its range of products are now in use in 19 countries through out the world. Customers include mobile network operators, government departments, local authorities and multi-national companies.
Burnside's founder David Robson is the first winner of the GRIST Award [Great Ideas in Science and Technology] granted by the University of Surrey.
IPR Industries Ltd is an investor in Burnside Telecom. IPR’s founders also founded Technophone Ltd – the company that designed the world’s first truly pocket-sized cellular telephone. When Technophone was sold to Nokia in the early 1990s, it was the 4th largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world. Comedian Harry Enfield is shown using his Technophone outside the London Stock Exchange.
