Burnside Technology in Lifts and Elevators
An essential task in managing buildings is the
maintenance of lifts and lift communications. If passengers are
trapped in stopped lifts, or a lift goes out of service, it is
important that appropriate alarms are raised, and that anyone
inside a lift can remain in communication. This is vital in case of
a fire or other emergency, when landlines and power may be
disabled.
Burnside products enable communications to be
maintained in all conditions, allowing rescue personnel and service
engineers to undertake their tasks. Although lifts tend to be areas
that receive poor GSM network signals, an antenna positioned
outside a lift (on its roof, for example) and attached to a
Burnside Fixed Cellular Terminal can obtain a strong signal. In the
event of a power failure, Burnside terminals can operate for up to
a week from an internal battery supply.
In order to raise the alarm if a lift goes out of
service, Burnside terminals can be connected to equipment sensors
and transmit automatically an SMS message to the central
controller.
